View GPS Location History on the Map

Post by N7SLC »

Hi Will,

What I imagine is something like this...

1. Click the Location screen.
2. Right-click on the radio you want to view the tracking history for.
3. Click an option for "Location History" or something similar.
4. A box of some type would pop up to allow the operator to input the Start and End times of the block of time they want to look at.
5a. Hit "Run" to play the radio location history on the map with the little red/white pointer.
5b. Double click a certain date/time to bring up just that location on the map.
5c. Hover the mouse over the location date/time and watch the pointer move around the map.

Not asking much, right? :P

Hi all interested bods,

I am in the process of building the Menu for the GPS Poll List (for want of a better name).
The mechanics is in place and ...
So far this works:
  1. Send ARS Query
Under Development
  • GPS display - based on what Dan has suggested
Under Consideration/Investigation (For 1 x only selected GPS Radio)
  • GPS display - based on what Dan has suggested
  • Trackpoints (breadcrumbs for the last 5 locations)
  • Transmit GPS retry based both state and Request Type
  • (Maybe Add/Remove ?)
  • (Maybe Show Only ?)
  • (Your suggestions go here ;) )
More ideas required please ..

cheers

Progress is being made ...

The incomplete Popup Menu from Right Clicking on a Radio in Gps Poll List.

Image

Want GPS Position History?

And the following data has been taken from the MySQL database being used by the App.

Suggestions (of an appropriate nature) would be appreciated.

cheers

HI Will,

What you've done so far is amazing!

I've got a few suggestions...

1. Some way to make a notation on a certain GPS point. For example, to note the time/date/location a vehicle got into an accident.
2. I'd like a see a way to have specific events, like the one mentioned above, highlighted in red or popup on the screen when a GPIO is triggered on the subscriber radio. The GPIOs can be programmed to transmit GPS info when triggered.
3. Some way to print the GPS log from the SQL database to be able to have a hard copy of the vehicle location history.
4. Custom icons for active units on the map.

I'm sure there's more ideas floating around my head...

Hi Guys,

I'm not overly fast because I'm not a GUI programmer .. but "Track Points" aka "Bread Crumbs" are starting to look reasonable ..
Selectable for a single Radio - but once I work out how to do it then I can "usually" easily modify it!

Look for the small roundish looking things black outside white inside ... now what else is needed ... colours ... size ... quantity (currently 5) etc ...

At the same time - see the "12: BUS 12" that is a name comprise of the Radio Number + ":" + the radio Alias ... think hard please guys ... I'm the mechanic and you are the designers ... until I get driven nuts ;)

Now with Grey arrows point at the "bread Crumbs"

In the History view, we should be able to see every breadcrumb for the specific block of time requested from the DB) etc ...

Hi guys,

Progress is progressing ;)

1st cut will be released shortly as soon as I add the animation ...

Image

When that is done - you hopefully (without killing me) will suggest areas that need a bit more polish.

Caveats:
  1. All radios in the list can be given Breadcrumbs.
  2. Breadcrumbs are the most recent 5 x locations from the Database.
  3. Bread crumbs are currently limited to only 8 x discrete colours (colours will loop atm).
  4. GPS Position history is restricted to only 1 x radio at a time.
  5. Both GPS Breadcrumbs and GPS (history) points are limited to MySQL and SQLite databases - not implemented yet for registry (and then they may be just limited to last x 5 GPS positions saved).
cheers

Hi guys,

The animation of selected "historical" (past) GPS points appears to be working and if have to say so myself it looks like it could be very useful :o
(The Usual mouse clicks to select 1 x or more points - then press "Display" button).
Also double clicking on a "historical" location from the GPS list will Display that single point - thus you can manually step back through breadcrumbs and other previous points.
Image
Thanks Dan for suggesting that!

(I'll have to change the colour of the "historical" semi transparent Pin because - it seems hidden when on the remote Radio's current position.
I'll try "Blue" an await the feed back...

Just have to finish the Date/Time range selection and it may almost be time to do an interim release ..

Just checking the Menu and what is missing
Image
(Usually for Selected Radio).
  1. Display GPS History - done (80% done)
  2. Display Breadcrumb trail - 100% done
(Remove Breadcrumb trail - 100% done)
  3. Display Radio GPS Status - 0% (I'm thinking of just showing the current "Poll" status etc
  4. Remove All Breadcrumb trails - 100% done
  5. Send ARS Query - 100% done
  6. Retry polling method - 50%
  7. Remove Radio from poll - will become Drop radio from display - 80%
  8. Add Radio to Poll - will become Add radio to display - 40%
